Elkhart Lake (06.06.2010) - From the start to the finish Sam Michaels led the race the whole time and was never in any danger. Even a strong IndyCar veteran Richard Crozier, who had an incident in traffic when lapping cars and lost plenty of time, was not able to stop Michaels. But behind the first two placed drivers the race was everything but boring!

A strong field of 18 drivers built the grid. Everybody was taking it easy the first turns knowing that the race will take at least one and a half hour. But then it didn't take long until it got racy. The very fast Rhawn Black spun out and hitted the wall coming out of turn 6. That was the green light for a very long and hard battle for P3: Marc Payne, Keegan Lunsford and Henrik Müller exchanged the places all race long and decision should be made in the last lap!

With a good overtaking maneuver Müller was able to take P3 away from Marc Payne and was able to hold the attacks off. But after the 2nd round of pit stops Müller spun out in turn two and Payne got the position back. After that it was Lunsford to chase Payne for third place. Before the last round of pit stops around lap 45 Payne had to work hard to hold the position. With only one and a half lap to go Payne was in P3 and already had a lead over to Müller in P4 of about seven seconds. Then the drama begun: Attacking his personal best times he lost the car breaking into the famous T12 - Canada Corner. Müller took P3 away and was also able Lunsford close in and get by. In the last lap breaking for turn 1 it happend: Payne driving behind Lunsford touched his front man. Both cars spun off the track into the gravel trap and Lunsford crashed into the tire barriers. In that way the duo of Fabrizio Volpe and Andrew Aitken were able to gain two positions.

Volpe and Aitken also had a very nice fight all over the race. In lap 14 the Italian was able to get by Scotsman Aitken. After that both drivers drove on the same speed level trying to be faster than the opponent.

The chapionship points leader Tim Doyle and persuer Sean Graham both struggeled in the race and were not able to finish. This keeps the fight for the title wide open. Graham is right now 21 points behind Doyle and both drivers are considered as oval specialists.

In two weeks the series will stop at Road Atlanta for the second last race of the season. After that the final race will be held at the fast super speedway in Michigan. Championship decision will propably made during the last race - stay tuned.
